Fitting the hydrolic release bearing, gearbox and engine

Today Chris came by to help me getting some real progress!

And the engine is in! You can also see the painted intercooler, looks really nice together with the radiator

And again, I had to move to a new garage. However, the new place is much better; more space, light and equipment and less moisture. Many thanks to Arjan (who has no weblog (yet)) for lending me the wheels (which happen to look quite nice!).

A bit off camber

November 2005

I drilled a hole in the inner side panel to be able to refill the gearbox. The only thing I forgot is that the gearbox will rise another 2 or 3 centimeters, I hope I can still reach the refiller hole then.

This bracket will support the intercooler.

No bracket needed on the other side.

Fitted the handbreak lever.

Fitted the fuel tank.

Fitting the outlet manifold

I needed to weld some bolts on these studs to be able to remove them.

The sand-sprayed manifold fitted.

Fitting the air intake.

These pictures show how much clearance I have between the steering shaft and the air intake. I'll make an adapter plate to move the air intake more to the right.

March 2006

Fitted a aluminium plate to the scuttle.

Fitted the timing belt.

Pop rivetted the side panels. I'm probably going to regret this because it will hinder my work in the nose.

Fuel bracket and hoses

The first RVS connector piece between the hoses, looks great!

I made a alu bracket to hold the fuel pump. I'll hope the alu is strong enough for this job.

As you can see the actuator and the actuator will need some work. On the righ hand side you see Thomas' refactored bracket.

All kinds of stuff

Trial fitted the AMAL valve. Now I have to figure out where to connect these 3 pipes to ;)

I wish I had fitted the fuel lines before I had put in the rear bulk-head and rear-suspension, there is so little space now, you can hardly drill a hole. Nevertheless, the fuel return line is almost finished now...

... but I think I have a problem here. There is too less space between the fuel tank and the De Dion axle to bend the fuel hose. As you can see, DAX welded the connector at a different location at the fuel tank but moved it to the right for whatever reason. I wish they left it there.

Finishing the fuel circuit

At least, that was my intention. It so hard to find a store were they sell proper material that I will NOT finish this today. I'm also thinking of where to put the post-fuelpump filter, behind the rear bulkhead, near the pump, or at the front in the engine bay.

To solve yesterdays' problem I cut off a piece from the fuel return pipe. Now I have another problem that the hose doesn't fit.

Since I do not use a heater, I directly connected the output of the ...
